Infant Mortality Awareness Month may be coming to

Infant Mortality Awareness Month may be coming to an end, but our fight around this critical public health issue is ongoing.

Here are some ways REACHUP works to reduce infant mortality every day.

💛 Access to Quality Prenatal Care: Both our Nurses and Doulas ensure that expectant mothers receive regular check-ups and help identify and manage potential health issues early on.

💛 Educating Parents and Caregivers: Our programs provide extensive education on topics such as safe sleep practices, breastfeeding, and proper nutrition – all of which can empower parents to make informed decisions that support their infant’s health.

💛 Community Support Programs: REACHUP has fostered strong support networks for new parents, such as home visiting programs and parenting classes, which can help reduce isolation and provide valuable resources.

💛 Promoting Mental Health Resources: Supporting maternal mental health is crucial. Postpartum depression can affect caregiving, which is why we have stress workshops available to all new mothers.

💛 Research and Advocacy: REACHUP continuously supports research and advocates for policies that improve outcomes for mothers and babies.

We’re still beaming from this year’s INCREDIBLE Affirming Fatherhood Conference—a day dedicated to celebrating and empowering fathers everywhere! 🎉👨‍👦‍👦

From inspiring keynote speakers and interactive activities to connecting with other dads, the goal of the conference is always for others to share experiences and gain confidence in your role as a father as well as discover new strategies for fostering a strong, loving relationship with your children.

And above all else, this conference brings together a supportive community that values the important role of fathers!

Our Affirming Fatherhood Conference is on Friday, September 13 at the @childrensboard_hc — We can’t wait to engage in this incredible enriching event with you.

💪 Guest speakers from USF and WEDU (and many more!) discussing a range of topics from data collection and men’s health to engaging with our children

Did you know Dads can help with breastfeeding as well? It’s true!

The first weeks after having a baby are both exciting and overwhelming – you and your partner are learning a lot together, including how to breastfeed. Here’s how Dads can step in:

🖤 Help take care of the baby: You can soothe, bathe, change, dress, cuddle, and burp your baby. You can also keep your partner company during feedings and make sure that she has plenty to eat and drink.

🖤 Watch for hunger signs: Learn your baby's hunger cues so that you can bring your baby to your partner for nursing sessions.

🖤 Limit visitors: New moms need plenty of rest! Help limit the number of visitors that come to your home.

🖤 Go the extra mile: Help with chores. Run errands, cook, clean, and do laundry. If mom needs something while she's breastfeeding, offer to get it for her. If you have other children, take care of them so your partner can focus on breastfeeding.

🖤 Offer encouragement: Help your partner feel good about herself. Tell her you're proud of her and that she's doing a great job.

🖤 Know your resources: That’s us! Our Male Involvement Network has free workshops for father and father figures to provide support and guidance.
