Healthy Start is a free home visiting program that provides education and care coordination to pregnant women and families of children under the age of three. Services are provided by Community Health Nurses (CHN) and other home visiting professionals, whose primary focus is to lower risk factors associated with preterm birth, low birth weight, infant mortality, and poor developmental outcomes. Our focus is on several approaches, improving women’s health, improving family health, father involvement and meaningful male inclusion.
Pregnant women; new mothers; women between pregnancies who live in East Tampa; infants up to three years old in 33602, 33603, 33605, 33607, 33610, 33612, 33613, and 33617 zip codes.
Services are also provided to Healthy Start Dads in 33604, 33605, 33610, 33612, and 33613 zip codes.
- In-person visits in the home or community setting
- Prenatal and parenting education
- Interconception education including reproductive life planning
- Stress management education
- Care coordination to help families learn about resources available in the community and assistance in accessing those services
- Mental health services
