The Children’s Board Family Resource Centers, Central Tampa

The Children’s Board Family Resource Centers, Central Tampa, is located inside the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, at the corner of Nebraska and Palm Avenue in Ybor City. It functions as a strong, collaborative partnership between the Children’s Board and REACHUP, Inc. and other community residents and organizational partners. A warm welcome is given to all individuals who stop by to chat, get information and discover the depth and extent of resources that can help meet the needs of families in Central Tampa.

The philosophy of family support is part of a national movement which seeks to strengthen and empower families and communities so they can foster the best possible development of children, youth and adults. Broad community partnerships are at the heart of service and program delivery with an emphasis on child development, self sufficiency, and health and safety.

The Center is a fun, inviting place for families to come on a day-to-day basis. In particular, individuals who have recently moved to the area have enjoyed the opportunity to meet new friends and gain support in re-establishing their families in Hillsborough County.

The fun and colorful children’s play area is a unique feature of the Central Tampa Center. This is a special place where children are engaged in age-appropriate activities so that parents are “freed up” to participate in a variety of different classes, programs and activities.

A variety of different classes are available promoting family stability and success to improving computer skills and the enhancement of job-related activities. The computer station is a busy area of the Center where members are welcome to use the computers to contact friends and family, conduct research or correspond for job opportunities. Our mission is to provide easy access to learning opportunities for the community by supplying a gateway to online information sources, library collections, the Internet, and popular office software applications.

The Central Tampa Center has literature and information about local resources and a variety of topics for personal development and pleasure reading that families can pick-up. A spacious multi-purpose room enables individuals to attend classes, and work with community groups to learn new skills. Opportunities to work with a staff member on Resume Writing, Finance Classes, Arts & Crafts, and special events like Hurricane Preparedness.

All families are encouraged to visit the Central Tampa Center to discover the many opportunities available for parents, children and teens. The Center offer a refreshing, homelike environment where caring staff and other families offer individuals support, opportunities and new friendships.
