Dr. Pitts is a doctoral-prepared Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner who serves as the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) for the Maternal Mortality Component at REACHUP, Inc. She works in collaboration with physicians and other advanced practice providers within an obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) outpatient clinic setting. Dr. Pitts delivers direct OB/GYN clinical care services focusing on maternal mortality/morbidity prevention, and provides supervision, consultation, education, and support to the Maternal Health Nurse Specialists, and Maternal Health Specialists serving the Pregnancy Medical Home program of REACHUP, Inc. In addition, she formerly worked with the Strong Start Project and Pregnancy Medical Home program as a Maternal Health Nurse Specialist, and she previously worked with the federal Healthy Start Project as a Community Health Nurse. In both positions at REACHUP, Inc., Dr. Pitts worked directly with clients providing care coordination services that include risk screening, social/emotional support, resources and referrals. Additionally for high risk clients, she provided education on chronic disease, pregnancy-related/induced illnesses, and assisted clients in medical treatment coordination and reinforced the plan of care as recommended from their healthcare provider. Before joining REACHUP, Inc., Dr. Pitts worked at Moffitt Cancer Center as a Blood and Marrow Transplantation RN. Dr. Pitts received her Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing (BSN) degree from the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Florida where she held multiple student leadership positions including serving as the Executive Founding Student Leader of the Phi Iota chapter of Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. Her passion for serving the community for the advancement of women’s healthcare has led her to pursue a terminal nursing degree. She received her Master’s in Science of Nursing (MSN) and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees with the concentration in Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Pitts is licensed to practice in the state of Florida as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and she earned her Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) certification from the National Certification Corporation. She also has completed the Merck Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON insertion and the International Association of Forensic Nurses’ (IAFN) Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training. Ms. Pitts is a member of the Tampa Bay Advanced Practice Nurses Council (TPAPNC), National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrical and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), and is an educational affiliate member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG). She also belongs to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society, Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and  Golden Key International Honour Society.
